Some facts from the history of antigambling laws in America

Online casino for US players has a long history of prohibitions and restrictions. And web-sites accepting USA players which have always been on the front line of fighting gambling online by the United States lost great incomes.
By the beginning of 2006 the situation around online casino for US citizens remained unchanged since 2001 but that year started a new wave of worsening the situation around virtual casino.

For USA players who were ready to any reaction from the Government another law against gambling online was not a great surprise. Three senators proposed another project (known as HR4777). According to this project players online lost their possibility to play any gambling game including placing bets on sport, casino, poker with an exception only for horse races and fantasy sport. The law demanded that banks had to stop accepting US players’ payments of any kind concerning their deposits in casino and the fine for players themselves equalled a remarkable sum of money or even 10 years of imprisonment.

Despite the results of numerous researches which showed that the population of the country did not support that law it was adopted by the representatives of Congress. Senate was planned to work it out to pass it to George Bush for his signature. He is known for his strong dislike of gambling by the way.

One of the reasons why the law was accepted so rapidly by the Congress was a scandal flourished around a famous lobby Jack Abramowitz. He was accused of not paying taxation and illegal operations with money of real casinos. It was his active position that influenced the failure of the former law adoption but this scandal caused an opposite reaction: casinos lost their opportunity to Accept us players without any problem as it was before.

The actions aimed at prohibition for specialized web-sites to accept us, players from the West, are spread not only on the level of the country but in separate states as well. The first was Washington (not the capital, but the state) which adopted its own antigambling law to extend Wire Act. Now playing gambling games on the Internet or other means of communication (we are talking about cell phones, etc.) can cause 10 000 dollars fine. Any web-sites trying to accept USA players or even informing about gambling are prohibited.

June 1. 2010 cleared up the position of the present head of the country.
But online gambling industry doesn’t give up – some sites accepting us, players from America, can be found on the Internet.
